Rudy Giuliani the IncineratorThe California Governor may still be the Terminator, but Rudy Giuliani is the Incinerator.
As Mayor of New York City he was responsible for the safety of the visitors and workers in the World Trade Center which was a known terrorist target especially since it survived a severe car bombing in the parking garage several years earlier.
With a pair of tall skyscrapers the general plan to survive a fire is for those to above the fire to walk several floors above the fire or if close to the roof, to the roof, and for those below the fire to walk down to the street. It is pretty standard for all fire safety in all tall buildings in New York City and for everyone to practice the drill, I believe every six months. I was a daily visitor to the World Trade Center commuting by PATH train from New Jersey and shopping on the Shopping Concourse occasionally, but I never worked there. I walked downstairs to the street many times over the years while working in many other buildings across the city during fire drills. I was even a floor fire warden where I was supposed to chase people from their desks to go to the hallway for further instructions from the floor captain. We generally had a fire alarm, a building intercom, and a fire floor captain intercom, and phone service. Our role was to avoid the elevators and walk down the stairs to the street in an orderly fashion. Basically, we waited for an all clear message to re-enter the building and go back to work or other directions. I know we were timed on how long it took everyone to reach the street. Each time we received direct feedback from the building fire warden on what to do and to answer our questions.
I think one needs goals to accomplish anything. If you want everyone to evacuate the building within 45 minutes of sounding the alarm, then you practice it until you get everyone out of the building within 45 minutes or less. If you expect another bombing then you have emergency workers practice. If you expect a severe fire, then you have engineers, architects, and fire specialists work out what is needed for survival and then you have most of the recommendations accomplished. If very tall buildings are death traps, then they must be condemned and new ones barred from being constructed.
Rudy Giuliani is the Incinerator because more than 3,000 people were trapped in the building and were cremated. Survivors walked away from the building. There were no injured to speak of. Why did so many people die when it took more than an hour for each building to collapse after the planes struck each of the 2 towers? A lot fewer people should have died if the Mayor Rudy Giuliani the Incinerator was more diligent.
Rudy Giuliani is the goat of 911. So many people should have not lost their lives. I would not vote for Rudy to be dog catcher with his history. Just think how many people could die at the national level if he became President with his history. Just think more than 3,000 people died on his watch as Mayor of New York City.
